N 3 f g 6 term in the pressure of hot QCD
We determine the first independent part of the g coefficient in the weak coupling expansion of the QCD pressure at high temperatures, the one proportional to the maximal power of the number of quark flavors Nf . In addition to introducing and developing computational methods that can be used in evaluating other parts of the expansion, our calculation provides a result that becomes dominant in t...
متن کاملThe leading non-perturbative coefficient in the weak-coupling expansion of hot QCD pressure
Using Numerical Stochastic Perturbation Theory within three-dimensional pure SU(3) gauge theory, we estimate the last unknown renormalization constant that is needed for converting the vacuum energy density of this model from lattice regularization to the MS scheme. Making use of a previous nonperturbative lattice measurement of the plaquette expectation value in three dimensions, this allows u...

The conventional weak-coupling expansion for thermodynamic quantities in hot field theories shows poor convergence unless the coupling constant is tiny. I discuss screened perturbation theory (SPT) which is a way of reorganizing the perturbative expansion for scalar theories and hard-thermal-loop perturbation theory (HTLPT), which is its generalization to gauge theories. I present results for t...
متن کاملThe pressure of hot QCD up to g 6 ln ( 1 / g )
The pressure of hot QCD up to g 6 ln(1/g) The free energy density, or pressure, of QCD has at high temperatures an expansion in the coupling constant g, known so far up to order g 5. We compute here the last contribution which can be determined perturbatively, g 6 ln(1/g), by summing together results for the 4-loop vacuum energy densities of two different three-dimensional effective field theor...
متن کاملFree Energy of a Hot Gluon Plasma and Hard-thermal-loop Resummation
Relativistic heavy-ion collisions will soon allow the experimental study of hadronic matter at energy densities that will probably exceed that required to create a quark-gluon plasma. A quantitative understanding of the properties of a quark-gluon plasma is essential in order to determine whether it has been created. Because QCD is asymptotically free, the running coupling constant αs becomes s...
